So basically, due to my extreme interest in the metalcore scene, I have come across one of the most interesting things I have ever discovered in the music world. We have all heard the rap/rock combos with our favorites (Jay-Z & LP, Run DMC &Aerosmith, Busta & Ozzy) the list goes on, but metalcore has pretty much just taken it to another level. Below is a series of song/picture/video thingies. Its best to just let you decide what should be done about this. Leave your opinions they are a must.

Now that the Prefect Blog is back up and running, readership has gone back up I think it’s time to do a “My Favorite Rap Albums of 09″ (as of 9/11/09). A lot of good music has come out this year, more so then many years previous to 09. So now we’re going to run through my top 7 Rap Albums of 09, please feel free to comment/argue/~~disagree~~ or whatever but this is my blog. (Ha) Now keep in mind these are only albums released for sale by a record label or else this would be filled with mixtape by The Cool Kids, Wale, The Kickdrums, Nero, XV J. Cole & Kid Cudi ~~(Denzel says Charles Hamilton)~~.

Number 7
Asleep In the Bread Aisle

Asher Roth took care of business with his first effort. The freshmen in the game crafted a beautiful album that introduced him and his lyrical skills to the world. At the same time he had fun with features from Cee-Lo, Keri Hilson, Busta Rhymes & Chester French. To say the young man doesn’t belong on this list is a disgrace for the simple fact that he had the most popular single across college campuses but not dumb himself down enough to say that he is not a credible lyricist. The album gets 2 thumbs up from me due to the fact that Asher address a lot of issues that make him an individual in the rap game. I don’t know what to expect from him in the beginning but his first album goes up there with great firsts like one Lupe Fiasco. (think about it)

Number 6
Party Rock

You don’t know this but LMFAO has taken over your club. This was a tough choice because you probably have no idea who these guys are or that they ever dropped an albume. This duo has cleverly mixed Rap, Dance, Rock in a dynamic way that just keeps the party going. Denzel hates them cuz I play them in the car all the time. With their lead sing currenly being “I’m In Miami B****” they have been taking over club scene’s all over the globe with mixes with BEP, Kanye West & Lady GaGa. Their debut album just establishes them as the kind of artist who wil always make fun music. The best song on the album may have to be “Shots” featuring Lil Jon the concept is quite simple and a hell of a lot of fun. Pretty much like most of the album. Warning! if you are not a fan of international club music this may annoy you.

Number 5
Jay Stay Paid

This will be short and sweet. Jay (J Dilla) stays Paid! Even after his passing J Dilla continues to grace album after album after mixtape. His influence in Rap music is undeniable. This album was put together by the legendary Pete Rock & friends. It plays like a radio program and features M.O.P., Black Thought & Doom, it’s pretty much a must have in my book for any real hip-hop fan.

Number 4
Born Like This

Though I rarely listen to my car’s cd player, this is the album that stayed in it most of the year. ~~MF DOOM~~ DOOM makes his return still dawning the iron mask with assistance from Dilla (Gazzillion Ear is the best song all year), Madlib, & Jake One to make this album the most villanous album since Madvillainy (and that album can’t be touched). For anyone who that the DOOM was incapable of showing up for anything was proven wrong with this effort. DOOM simply proves why he is the top lyricist pretty much on the planet. It’s easy to say that this is not for your average listener of rap music. DOOM’s metaphors are as sharp as ever. Honestly it takes quite some time to understand anything that DOOM says because the lryical style is one of a kind. The Supervillain come in at number 4 because he never really goes in on any song and begs you asking for more on just about every song. Which isn’t actually a bad thing cuz everyone will buy his next album.

Number 3
Only Built for Cuban Linx II

This just came out 3 days ago and it literally blew my mind. And I love the way the album cover is the exact same as the original just in purple, though the original is called “the purple tape” (Ask Alicia Keys). This is just how every Wu-Tang album should sound like, though some may argue that this is how every Wu-Tang album sounds like (LL’s) Raekwon get’s a lot of assistance on this album which sets him back a bit, but the album is solid 100%. It honestly takes me back to the golden era of New York rap (mid 90′s). Raekwon goes out and finds 3 Dilla beats that proves that a Dilla/Wu-Tang collabo should have came about when they were all alive. If you love tough guy, drug reference, New York rap this is perfect for you. The album plays out like a perfect old school African American Kung Fu Movie (The Last Dragon anyone?). Plus look out for the Rae/Meth/Ghost album, pleas believe it

Number 2
The Blueprint 3

~~(Believe it or not I did not want to put this album so high up on here, I mean look how my other favortie rappers album is missing from the list)~~ Jay-Z delivers with the Blueprint 3, No matter how much I want to deny it, it’s solid for all about 3 songs at the end. If you are one that doesn’t think that Jay-Z is pretty much the role model for the rap industry, listen to this album and find out why. Just like the last album mentioned, this was officially released 3 days ago and it’s 90% incredible, trust me you will uncover things about this album for at least another year. The thing that sets Jay-Z back and keeps him at number 2 is the fact that he wasn’t able to top my favorite 3 Jay-Z albums (Doubt/Print/Gangsta) but as Jay clearly states, why would he go back to that? Pretty much Jay-Z is an Idol who can do whatever he wants, but chooses to do everything quite well. BP3 pretty much shows that as long as he wants to Mr. Shawn Carter will never fall off. Oh! and for all the other bloggers Kanye didn’t son Jay-Z on “Run This Town” but Swizz Beatz did steal the show on a album that was mostly produced by Kanye & Timbaland. But the real star of the show is and will probably alway be Jay-Z but he failed to beat out 1 album at this point of the year.

NUMBER 1!!!!

Say Hello…/FML?

Say Hello to the bad guy, they say i’m a bad guy.

It has come to my attention that a popular accronym has made its way across America (the mid-west at least). In case you’ve haven’t heard the accronym: “FML” stand for ~~F*** My Life~~ personally I do not understand why any one would utter such a phrase. I personally think life is beautiful, even in the hard times. FML is like a verbal commitment to give up or something. Every time it is uttered i cringe a bit and just want to say “WOW!, Really?” There are few people that care so much about our lives as much as we do, and if we direct such negativity to ourselves, how is anyone else supposed to stay and fight with us. I know few people put much meaning behind the phrases, but words have power.
oh, and by the way
SAY HELLO to the bad guy. Don’t know what’s going on but I must be slipping cuz I some how feel like the Villian (No ~~dumile~~ DOOM) a lot now. When did i flip the 180? Oh well…. ~~FML~~ (HaHa Never!)

Social Media, I LuvHate You

I love the fact that technology has let us communicate and stay connected with each other, but I LuvHate (Love & Hate) social media. For example I actually never been a fan of text messaging but I do it all the time, but the “Lets Nab Oprah” Episode of The Boondocks will tell you my true feelings . 2 of the largest social networking sites Myspace & Facebook were cool until they thought they had to let everyone add 100 thousand application (really?). And to make matters worse they added instant messaging that leaves people trapped and logged on to their page. Now I only facebook to post blog post, play scrabble & uno. Twitter? ~~(really)~~ why? By the way emails were cool until grad school and I started getting them from students & professors. Blogging is cool, cuz I have used it download free music and news and what not.
The worst part is that we as individuals have relied on these means of communication to actually get to know people. All of these tools have just made me appreciate the face to face interaction that sometimes seem to be taken for granted by others. Word!

Busta’s New New Album

So I’m literally sitting here thinking about making a post about Jay-Z Blueprint 3 album and thinking about how disappointed i was when my other favorite rapper released his new album when I stumble onto illroots.com and saw this posting. Now it is not a huge secret that I was not necessarliy happy with Back On My B.S. It wasn’t the fact that none of the songs are good, because most of them are. But there were so many songs that got leaked before hand that were better then the one’s that made the album. Plus even with Busta saying that his new album is 80% done with a title, all of us true Busta fans know that the album may still not be released until 2011 under a different title. Now I’m not hating because I’m still the biggest Busta fan you will come across, but I’ve lost some hope that I’m going to be floored by any record released on a major label.

Girls Meet Gir!

You may be familair with this cartoon character guy for a couple of reasons, but we’ll get to that in a second. Just the other day I was in the club and I saw a chick rocking a bag with Gir (pictured above) on it. So I was like “Yo that’s a nice Invader Zim bag you got,” and the ~~&)(%^%~~ had the nerve to look at me like I was crazy. First of all.. Gir is a side kick character on a cult classic cartoon called Invader Zim which was on Nickelodean. The show got cancled years ago, but sale of the appareal has sky rocket thanks to Hot Topic. I have no quarrel with Hot Topic, cuz I think it’s dope that they support the cartoon classics. Here’s where my proble lies.. 2nd People stop rocking (wearing) things you know nothing about. To me, that’s like getting a Chinese/Japanese tattooed on your arm or lower back. You’re rolling around thinking you’re some cool rebel and don’t even know what you’re saying. For Real!!! is that what’s hot in the streets? (circa 2002)
This message got directed to the ladies cuz they don’t really make Invader Zim appareal for the fellas, even though more of us watched the show, but it’s whateva. It’s dope when you find a girl rocking Invader Zim, & then she knows what the show is about too.
